The Eve Wormhole Field Trip Checklist

This seems like an obvious post topic that I have overlooked. Keep in mind that I run WH space with 2 pilots, my main (LightTraveler) and my Alt (Star Defender) and I maintain a POS with a hangar array for storing ammo, loot, and extra fittings and a ship maintenance array for storing the extra ships and switching out fittings as needed.

Here is what I take to my WH trips:

POS:
  • Caldari Control Tower Small
  • Corporate Hangar Array
  • Ship Maintenance Array
  • Enough POS Fuel for 10 to 14 days
  • Enough Strontium for 12 hours
Ships:
  • 2x Transport Ships with Cargo Expanders (basically for hauling the POS gear in/out, not used while clearing WH)
  • 1x Primary scanning Ship (I use a Helios)
  • 1x Omni-tanked, Dual armor rep Dominix with T2 Light Drones - good drone DPS and cannot touch the tank (Setup Below)
  • 1x Omni-passive-tanked Drake with 7x (Scourge Fury) Missile launchers (Setup Below)
  • Cormorant Salvage boat (Packed with Tractors and Salvager II's and a MWD, fitted for Analyzer or Codebreakers when applicable)
Fittings: [Dominix, Current WH Domi]
  • Large Armor Repairer II
  • Large Armor Repairer II
  • Armor Explosive Hardener II
  • Armor Kinetic Hardener II
  • Armor EM Hardener II
  • Armor Thermic Hardener II
  • Damage Control II

  • Cap Recharger II
  • Cap Recharger II
  • Cap Recharger II
  • Cap Recharger II

  • Small Tractor Beam I (Salvage as we go...)
  • Drone Link Augmentor I
  • Large Shield Transporter I (Supporting the Drake when he is multi BS Primary)

  • Auxiliary Nano Pump I
  • Auxiliary Nano Pump I
  • Auxiliary Nano Pump I
  • 15x Hornet II (-vs- Emergent/Frigates)
  • 10x Wasp II (-vs- Awakened/BC and Sleepless/BS)
Assuming I am the primary, when I am running both Armor Repairers and not remote shield repping:
  • Effective HP: 60,307
  • Shield Defence Efficiency: 729
  • Capacitor Lasts 2m 19s. Cap Stable when 1 Large Armor Repair Off.
I have only had to activate both armor repairers twice since I began doing Class 2's, and both times it was because I neglected to activate my hardeners at warp-in (oops).

  • Ballistic Control System II
  • Ballistic Control System II
  • Shield Power Relay II

  • 5x Hornet II
  • Effective HP: 51,758
  • Shield Defence Efficiency: 325

  1. Very nice blog. You have inspired an eve newb to go explore WH space. Keep up the good work :)

  2. Halka - good point - Definitely overkill on the probes, since you can recover them. Looking back, I have not purchased new probes in almost a month! Heheheh...

  4. I'm thinking about moving into a C1 or C2 WH soon, just to get a feel for it. I was wondering, why a Caldari POS? Is there any real reason such as PG or CPU requirements, or pricing?

Also, do you find guns/E-War needed or useful on the POS?

  5. Been a while since this post - a lot of lessons learned since then. The small Caldari POS was simply opportunistic, as I was living in Caldari space at the time and costs there were lowest.

The real answer is to evaluate what your defensive approach will be for your POS and choose the tower type with relevant bonuses - for example, if your are going the hardened POS route, then take the tower with the bonuses for resists, etc.

I have found that it is senseless to really try to build defenses for a small POS. You are so limited in terms of defensive firepower that even a 2 or 3 person BS squad could put your tower in reinforced.

If you are just starting out, go for a small POS in a Class 1 or 2 W-space system with a hangar and ship maintenance array and build up experience and ISK, then consider a medium or large POS in a Class 3 or higher. Once you move to a Medium or larger POS, then decide on a defensive strategy. I chose the hardener approach, with anchored (but offline) guns. Essentially harden a large POS to the point that it would take a huge fleet many, many hours to put it into reinforced. You can bring the guns online at will to defend if necessary.

Look for some more recent posts on POS setups ;-)

  6. Yeah, posted that just a bit after finding your blog. I've read all up through the current times now and love your stories, greatly inspired me to try it out. My Hurricane got exploded on my first attempt (gatecamp) but I'm working up funds to have another go.

One more question, I'm thinking of getting into T3 since they're coming down and I'll soon (hopefully) be able to afford one. Do you know of a good one for WH ratting? I'd prefer either Loki or Proteus since I'm planning cruiser 5 in both, but I know you use a Domi/Drake so was just wondering if you'd looked into it.

  7. I am going to stay true to my Caldari char and go for a Tengu. I will post my fit when I get it.

Lots of great fittings on BattleClinic.com.

  8. Hey Light...looking back over your blog post, I was curious. What are you shield resist going the MED SLOT fitting you are using? Right now on my drake i have been using 2x LSE II, 2 Shield Rechargers II, and 2 Invul Fields II. Feel free to contact me in game if you dont want to post that info. Thx.

  9. Enyo - my Drake shield resists are as follows. A while back I replaced my T2 Amps with Pithum C-Type's (I forgot I had some sitting in an old LowSec plexing station I used to frequent before WSpace), otherwise the only other change is I fit an offline cloak now instead of the tractor.

    EM: 59.6%
    Thermal: 67.7%
    Kinetic: 75.8%
    Explosive: 79.8%

Effective HP 55,403, Defense 354 Cap stable

Not sure how you are fitting those with 7x heavy missile launchers - my EFT shows me exceeding CPU by 6.95.

My skills and your setup, regardless of CPU looks like:

    EM: 58.6%
    Thermal 66.9%
    Kinetic: 75.2%
    Explosive 79.3%

Effective HP 54,292, Defence 478 Cap stable

So kind of a wash on HP, but you are quite a bit higher on defense for higher sustained damage threshold.

I don't think either of us is ever going to worry about C1-C3 sleepers, though. I like your fit, but I also like being lazy and never forgetting to enable those Invul's

  11. Hi! I was thinking on heading into Wormhole just to get something new to do in Eve. Is this information still valid with all the changes in Eve Online?

    Thanks!
