Yep, I saw all the signs - ship trailing for 8 jumps, lots of concord presence on the way to Jita, etc., a lock at the Jita station exit (likely a cargo scan?), but I still just stubbornly continued jumping systems enroute back to my W-space. Even with more than 20 Concord ships present at the Uedema gate from Ikao, all it took for my comparatively paper thin Iteron was a single gank ship (he popped within 5 seconds of me by Concord of course) and then watch as three others afterburner to my wreck - ganked and looted in less than 30 seconds. Efficient.
A first for me, after 2 years of Eve - and I actually had a VERY expensive cargo for T3 production, with over 300M ISK worth of production materials ganked plus the replacement cost of a max rigged Itty 5 (another 20M, plus the hassle...).
One post to local from me: "Lol, nice gank"
I try to convince myself it is just a game...and it is, but that is some serious effort down the drain. No crocodile tears, just a
, , and even more reason to take a break.
Fly Safe!
Dang Man, you have had your share of k-space problems lately.
ReplyDeleteJust more reason to stay in w-space.
Either way, enjoy some time away.
Mick
You were the victim of a predatory attack, even if it's in a game. That never feels good.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences.
imho 300M isn't something to emoragequit about - but still I understand it hurts...
ReplyDeleteGo take a break and by an Occator or use an orca for moving such valuable treasures in the future.
one word: Blockaderunner ;) you'll never look back again ^^
ReplyDeleteman, if youve got an itty 5, just go for the T2 transports. An Occator with cargohold lows and rigs can haul 35k m3 AND has +2 to warp strength so it takes at least 2 ppl to scram you. personally i run my impel with 2 more stabs so it 'll take at least 3 ppl (doubtful that ppl in ganking ships use scrams over disruptors though) to stop me
ReplyDeleteBeing ganked sucks but it is all part of the game that is Eve. It is what keeps me coming back. I prefer a game where there is actual risk involved, and in Eve there is, anytime you are undocked. I hope you recover from this setback and your break. Personally, I've really enjoyed reading about your endeavors in w-space.
ReplyDelete+1 transport ship. Although I fly a Mastedon, with 41 ehp (thanks to the natural 75% em shield resist) I welcome gankers to try. And an expensive try it will be :-). But I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jita is becoming a joke with more gank vulture's everyday. If I have to go there, and I try not to most weeks !! I use a Viator as they are so difficult to follow when cloaked.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, enjoy the break.
I'm gonna miss checking in for the bits of info that have helped me enjoy this game much more than if I hadn't. Thank You & fly safe.

The Orca is your friend. While it can still be suicideganked like any other ship in highsec, its corp hangar, ship maintenance bay and ore bay are not scannable.
ReplyDeleteOn the cargo scanning topic - I had an opportunity to keep my cargo in GSC's. I wonder if that would have obfuscated the cargo contents. With the latest Eve release, you can view container contents of your own inventory, but does anyone know if cargo scanning allows you to view contents of GSCs?
ReplyDeleteAccording to this guy, http://eve-search.com/thread/713643/author/Dianeces#3
ReplyDeleteyou can indeed scan down the actual contents of GSCs whilst they're in your hold.
Now, if you pre-password protect them, then you (in your pod, and/or your escort if you have one) can save one or two GSC's by anchoring them in space before the ganker's buddies can get to them.
You've played EVE this long and whine when you lose a mere 300M?
ReplyDeleteI've read somewhere that if you get an alt to set up a transport contract to you for the goods you are transporting they can't be scanned down - haven't tested it to see if it is true though.
ReplyDeleteI had my empire cherry and Mammoth full of Sleeper junk popped simultaneously in Perimeter a couple months back. Cheer up, friend-o. You didn't lose near as much as I did.
